The long list of diverse botanicals in Jake's Gin, including several which are notoriously challenging ingredients for distillers, could so easily result in a confused, unbalanced and clumsy end product. However, Edward May has achieved exceptional elegance, balance and complexity in Jake's Gin. From the nose to the finish it is big and bold, with depth of flavour and well-layered subtleties at each stage.

Juniper and floral notes stand out on the nose, and juniper, coriander seeds, citrus and floral notes from rose buds, lavender and orange blossom are centre stage on the palate. Spice and a subtle sweetness anchors this and the flavour holds and evolves through the long, smooth finish. Jake's Gin is a hugely impressive and skilfully developed flagship spirit that thoroughly defies the status of the distillery as a relative newcomer. - Paul Jackson, 2019
